Day . 2
Nordkapp to Repvåg 74 km

I set off at 8 o’clock from Skifjorden Camping and arrived at Honningsvåg after 10 Km. of cycling. There I had an interview with the local newspaper and left to Repvåg. The first tunnel crossing was 4440 meters, the second tunnel was 2500 meters and the third and longest was 7000 meters which crossed under the sea with 10 degrees slope. The roadside was extremely slippery and 200 meters into the tunnel, the front wheel had a puncture. I was cycling at 25 km/h and after the puncture lost control of the bike and hit the hard shoulder but no damage was done. Having reached the first SOS box, I made a call but there was no reply. A passing motorcyclist stopped to help and I asked him to make a phone call for me when he got out of the tunnel. He returned to the entrance of the tunnel and made a phone call but the reply was they only will come in case of fire or accidents. The motorcyclist returned and helped me changing the front wheel. Even though I was using mask in the tunnel, the polluted air caused me shortness of breath. And when I finally reached end of the tunnel the English motorcyclist was waiting there for me with a cup of coffee. I rested for couple of hours before I set off towards Repvåg. I arrived at the camping site at 7 p.m and spent the night there.

Day .3
Repvåg - Skaidi

Day 3
I left Repvåg at 8 a.m. My next destination was 76 km. away. Most of the road was pretty easy except another tunnel which was 4km. long because of lack of lighting. Most of the road was downhill and not tiring. I arrived in at 5pm. and stayed the night there

Day .4
Skaidi to Alta 60 Km

Day 4:
I set off at 9 am. It was 24 degrees, a very warm day. Drank 6 litres of water. The route was good. a few stretches of uphill and halfway I had another puncture in the front wheel… took me half an hour to change the wheel and off I went again. The distance between skaidi and Alta was 90 kilometres. And I had four punctures along the way, twice the front wheel, once the back wheel and once the trailer’s wheel. It was a very long day and pretty exhausting. Arrived in Alta at 10 pm. and stayed the night there.

Day . 5
Alta to Talvik 42 Km

Arrived in beautiful Alta. Luckily I ran into a few Iranians and spent the evening with them. The bicycle needed some servicing which i did with the help of my new friend Vahid. We fixed the bike and then spent the next hours having good food and wine.
Fine weather is forecasted for the next five days and possibly rainy weather for next week. So I have decided to cycle at least 100 kilometres a day to arrive in Tromsø next week..
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 6
Alta to Langsfjorden

The stretch between Alta and Langsfjord was pretty easy and straight. I arrived there at 6 pm. Got hit by some rain for a few minutes but the rest was dry, simple and straight.

Day .7
Undereidet to Sørkjosen 67 Km

Today the weather was humid and I woke up 7 am. And set off after half hour. The stretch between Langsfjord and Storslett wasn’t too exhausting and pretty uneventful. The temperature was 25 degrees centigrade and I drank 8 litres of water. I arrived at night and went to bed early.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 8
Sørkjosen to Olderdalen 45 Km

Today I left at 8 am. I have a long way to go today. I needed to rush between Storslett and Olderdalen to reach the ferry on time. And I arrived half an hour before the departure and queued up with the rest of the passengers. Arrived at Lyngseid and I found a good place to put the tent up comfortably and managed to get a few photos done and went to sleep early cuz tomorrow I need to cycle all the way to Tromsø. I am behind the schedule by one day still. The initial plan was to start the journey on august 15th but the plans changed to august 1st.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 9
Olderdalen---Ship to Lyngseider to Tromsø 70 Km

Today I need to get earlier to Sondsby so need to cycle faster to get to the ferry. And then I can cycle at an easy pace to Tromsø. Today’s stretch is about 80 kilometres. I set off at 8 am. And arrived on time for the ferry…and then another 50 kilometres of cycling to Tromsø. Tomorrow I have an interview with the city’s newspaper.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 10
Tromsø to Nordkjobotn 70 Km

I got up at 7 am. Had a shower and headed into the city. The camping site was 4 km. outside the city. I first went to Intersport to buy some supplies for the bike and then headed to the tourist board office to get some information about the road to Bodø. I met a few other cyclists who had just come from Bodø and they told me that there was probably 20 tunnels on route many of them quite long and heavily trafficked and bit risky. And since I didn’t have good memories from the experience of the underwater tunnel in Honnigsvåg, I was in two minds whether I should change my route. After I spoke to the tourist board, I decided to catch the ferry from Tromsø to Bodø, which I am sure will be great trip and less risky at that. I visited the offices of Nordlys newspaper for an interview. And caught the 2 am. ferry to Bodø.

Day 12
Tromsø - Bodø

I spent the whole day yesterday on the ferry. The distance between Tromsø and Bodø on sea was the most beautiful journey I have ever experienced, an absolute must-see. The ferry arrived in Bodø at 3:30 A.M. I found a camping site 10km north of the city and I was informed since nobody works there at night, the keys would be in the mailbox. I arrived there an hour later to find no keys. A very heavy rain started and I had to cycle to Bodø. Found another camping site by 6 o’clock, but again nobody was there. Nearing the site I had another puncture. When arrived there, had a much needed shower, waited till the site opened at 8 am. got myself a room, had breakfast and left for the city for an interview with Avisnor. Bought some supplies and returned to the camping site. Had dinner and slept.

Day 13

I set off at 7:30 am. Having cycled for about 30 km. I was hit by a torrential rain. After 5 km I reached a COOP supermarket and took shelter there. The shoppers who had seen me in the newpapers welcomed and cheered me on with smiles and chitchat.
I charged the batteries and set off again into the heavy rain. After another 25 km. the rain got so heavy it was impossible to cycle further. Found shelter at a petrol station and got talking to the owner’s 13 year old son who informed me that 10 km. away was camping site. He made a call to them and got me in for half the price. When the rain quietened down I set off for the site. Upon arriving there I got chatting to the owner of the site who used to work on tankers and had visited Iran. We spent a few hours reminiscing about Iran.

Day 14

I had a great night’s sleep last night. Got up at 6:30 am. and packed up the trailer, had some breakfast and was on my way at 7:30. Today I need to cycle as much as possible as the rain and heavy wind has started already and the temperature has dropped. I need to get to Trondheim as quick as possible. I will be resting there for couple of days. It rained a lot today and I am tired. I arrived in Ornes in the evening and stayed the night there.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 15

When I woke up this morning, I was aching all over. The rain, wind, cold and all the uphill cycling has left me feeling all lethargic. Had a shower, ate a full breakfast and set off at 8 am. Heavy rain and wind kept on, no way out…got to continue… I am quite exhausted today because of the rain and it will be rainy for the next few days. I arrived at Forøya after 12 hours and went straight to bed.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 16

I got a long a day ahead and hoping to reach Nesna. I have about 100 km. to cover today. And I will have two ferry rides, 10 minutes and 50 minutes. After 14 hours I arrived in Nesna absolutely beat and soaking wet. I hired a room, hung all my clothes to dry and after a hot shower went to sleep.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 17

As usual I am up early, packing and having a quick bit to eat before setting off… Two hours gone I heard a clicking sound. Stopped to check and found cracks in the tow bar perhaps caused by the heavy load I am towing. Fortunately I found a welder very soon and they fixed it for me free of charge. The weather has turned out quite nice today, bit of wind chill but luckily no rain. I will try to reach Brønnøysund. Two ferry rides and lots of cycling I arrived at my destination at 9 pm.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 18
Brønnøysund - Fodereid

I need to cover more than 100 km. today to reach Foldereid. Luckily the weather has been on my side today and I have to cycle as much as I can today. I set off at 7 a.m, the scenary and nature is so beautiful and I guess that is the reason that keeps me going and not feeling tired and lonely. I arrived in Foldereid late evening.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 19
Foldereid - Rygg

From Foldereid to Rygg is about 107 km. and it should take about 10 hours to get there. I am trying to get to Trondheim as quick as possible. It will mean two days of full rest and enough time to service the bicycle. I left at 8 am. and arrived in Rygg at 9 pm....put up my tent and went to sleep.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 20
Rygg - Sollia

The stretch from Rygg to Sollia is 98 km. and i am getting nearer Trondheim. I set off at 8 am. again, would have liked to sleep just a bit longer, but had to start the day. I arrived in Sollia 6 pm. Prepared some dinner, had a shower. Enjoyed the meal with a beer and slept till 6 am.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 21
Sollia - Trondheim

I rested a bit longer this morning and set off at 9 am. for Trondheim. The distance from Sollia to Trondheim is about 88 km. This is the last 100 km. stretch I am going to cover on a daily basis. After this I am going to do 50 km. a day as I am exhausted. I am looking forward to two days of rest. I arrived at 7 pm....put my things away and went to visit my friend.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 22 /23 Trondheim - Molde

I spent couple of hours with my friend, then visited Adresseavisa newspaper. The interview took about an hour. Afterward I did a bit of sightseeing in Trondheim and went to Stefano Bertelli's house around 4 pm., I spent the evening with Stefano and his family. I spent the saturday resting. On sunday I got up at 9 am. and caught the ferry to Molde and arrived there at 9 pm. and spent the night there.

Day 25 Åndalsnes - Geiranger

I woke up at 7 am. and set off at 8. The stretch from Åndalsnes to Geiranger was 88 km. Not much uphill, an uneventful day, beautiful scenary but unfortunately rainy day again with strong winds. I arrived at the camping site around 6:30 pm. Had some dinner, watch bit of TV, had a hot shower, then to sleep around 11 o'clock.

................................................................................................................................

Day 26 Geiranger - Bismo

Heading to Bismo from Geiranger today. I have to cover 74 km. today. The road was uphill/downhill all the way. Luckily the road conditions were very good and an amazing scenary. Norway is just the most scenic country as can be seen from the pictures. Mountaineous roads winding down by the fjords and sea, sometimes held together by bridges, sometimes by little boats and ferries, most wonderful experience. I cycled slowly today and arrived at 7 pm.

..................................................................................................................................

Day 27 Bismo- Skjolden

The distance between Bismo and Skjolden was 82 km., good road conditions. I cycled for 9 hours with a few minutes of break every hour. I arrived in Skjolden at 6 pm. The weather was not exactly the best. Raining here and there but nothing comparing to last weeks heavy rain. After having dinner I sat down to write the daily log and transferred all the photos to the laptop. Went to sleep about 11 pm.

Day 28 Skjolden - Vangennes

The distance between Skjolden and Sogendalfjord was 55 km. I got up at 6 am. and had breakfast, packed up my stuff and set off at 7 am. The rain was drizzling but no wind. I arrived at midday. I could still cycle but one of my batteries was flat so had to charge it. From Hella to Vangennes was 57 km. I charged the battery and set off at 2:30 pm. and arrived in Vangennes at 8 pm. It was a tiring day, i had a small meal and went to bed.

..............................................................................................................................

Day 29 Vangennes - Voss

I need to cycle 67 km. today from Vangennes to Voss. I had a long shower and a proper breakfast and left at 9 am. The weather was not great today. There was drizzle all along the way. Road was mostly uphill but i managed to get there by 5 pm...put up my tent, ate some dinner, showered and hit the bed.

Day 30 Voss - Dale

I am going from Voss to Dale today, it's around 58 km. I was not in much hurry this morning, got up at 8:30 am and set off at 9:30. The weather was ok today, not much rain or wind. I arrived at my destination at around 4 pm. Called my friends and was at their house 20 minutes later. I spent the evening with him and his family.

Day 31 Dale - Bergen

I woke up all refreshed after a good night's sleep. I don't have much cycling to cover today. There are quite a few tunnels on the way to Bergen which I am not allowed to cycle in. I arranged with my daughter to meet outside Bergen and she will pick me up in her friend's van and drive to her house. It was a good and easy day today and we arrived at my daughter's around 3 pm. I am hoping to see a few friends of mine here in Bergen and then continue onwards...

Day 32 to 35 Bergen - Stavanger - Rjukan GOAL IS REACHED!!

Bergen and its surroundings is one the most beautiful cities in Norway. All its islands are connected to one another by tunnels and bridges. And of course there is plenty of rain too. While in Bergen i visited a few friends and also had an interesting encounter with an artist and writer who'd visited Iran many years ago.We spent a couple of hours and had dinner together. It was Asbjorn's birthday and i cooked him persian food. The rain was coming down heavily and with no breaks. I spent a whole day resting. Having checked the weather forecast for the next 10 days, it was going to be heavy downpours and strong winds and there was no news of the weather getting better. The locals were saying they had not had such bad weather in the last 50 years. I had to continue the journey once again with ferry. The sea was extremely rough and lots of people on the ferry were seasick. I arrived in Stavanger after a few hours and headed for the city centre where i spents the night in a hotel.

I woke up at 7:30 am and had a shower, had my breakfast and headed for the newspaper offices. I arrived there at 8:30 and the receptionist informed me that all the reporters were in a meeting and i had to wait till 9 o'clock. The rain was coming down heavily and I was soaking wet. Around 9 am. somone met me and we had a few words and they asked me to wait for a bit longer. Half an hour later he returned and said they did not have any reporters available as they were all out on assignments. So i smiled and said thank you for letting me wait for an hour and now finding out that you have no reporters available. I left their offices. I had a similar experience in Bergen too and had no interview. I was baffled by how different I was treated in north comparing to the west coast.
I had another 40 km. to cycle and I set off at 10 am. This was one of the best stretches i have covered, the distance between Stavanger and Klepp was so beautiful and the stretch had special cyclist lane. I arrived at the company around 2 pm. I was met by Kjetil the Sales manager who congratulated me on finishing this journey. I was booked into a great hotel and I spent the night there. I covered 3000 km. on this journey where about 1000 km was with ferries due to bad weather and road conditions. It has come to an end and fortunately with no accidents or serious incidents.

Last night after my dinner I had a cold beer and went to bed early. This morning I packed my tent, sleeping bag and spare parts and shipped it to Rjukan. Afterwards I headed for the railway station and and bought ticket for 11 am. I arrived in Notodden at 7 pm. and took the bus to Rjukan.

At the end of my last report I would like to thank everyone who helped and supported me along this journey in one way or another. I am indebted to you all and appreciate this wholeheartedly.
